Fall Bash & Founder Mode 🤘

This is your monthly dose of Full Send.

Greetings 👋. It's our September edition of No Half Sends. Kids are back in school and VC’s are back to work! August flew by and just like that we’re less than 30 days from Q4. We’re beginning to prepare for year-end planning, budgeting, and 2025 forecasting. Of course, we have much to get done before year end (and an election, but we’re not going down that rabbit hole)!

To frame our update: we help growth companies elevate their financial and operational data through tech-forward accounting, finance, and data services.

Let’s Dive In 👇.

🎸 The 2024 Full Send Fall Bash

A MASSIVE part of who we are is about supporting our community. Our annual event - The Full Send Fall Bash - is aimed at benefitting our non-profit partner, First Descents. Their mantra of ‘Experience the healing power of adventure’ is right in line with our ethos.

On September 26th, join us and 100+ of your community friends to enjoy an evening of bluegrass, good food/drink, and support of a great mission. We’re thrilled to have Intuit and Upslope sponsor this years event to make it even better than last year!!

HERE IS YOUR INVITE. Bring a friend, just make sure they register 🙏 Even if you’re not able to join in person, we would love for you to consider supporting First Descents. We can’t wait to see you there!

You may very well regret not joining us. It’s a fair warning.

🚀 Need to know: Startups

> Down rounds are coming down. We’re all looking for signal. What do the signals tell us? In Carta’s recent data pull, they’ve identified that the percentage of down rounds is declining and for Seed / Series A investments, they have been declining for nearly a year. This is a great signal for those that are looking to complete a fundraise in the next 3-6 months. Of course, economic realities can shift on a tweet, but the trends are encouraging. (The State of Private Markets - Q2)

Carta Data Minute

> Founder Mode. The hottest topic in the last 2 weeks. Y-Combinator’s Paul Graham published a blog post inspired by Airbnb’s cofounder Brian Chesky’s talk about the perils of outsourcing key leadership tasks to others. Here is the original post. The topic of staying founder-led has been widely contested. The conversation revolves around founder-mode versus manager-mode philosophies and there’s been unanimous consent that there’s not a one-size-fits-all approach - shocker. 🏗️ Colorado Startups: Our Backyard

> Denver Startup Week is Upon Us! Here are a few events that we have our eyes on:

> Don’t sleep on the western slope. More than 70 founders from across rural Colorado submitted applications to pitch at WSSW. Over $280k in investment was at stake. Major props to Partytrick, ScaleIP, Gnara Apparel, Town Hall Outdoor Co., DifferentKind, and AnywhereCam on their awards from the competition. Check out the link to read more about the event and the winning companies! (West Slope Startup Week Rundown)
